Janice L. Aday's Obituary
Janice Leona (Green) Aday went to be with her Lord September 19, 2019 at the age of 79. Janice was born and raised in Chelsea, Oklahoma the daughter of Alvie Newton Green and Beatrice Leona (Hagerty) Green. Janice met and later married the love of her life Wilford E Aday, June 22, 1957 on Wilford‘s 21st birthday. Janice and Wilford remained in Chelsea where they had their first son Chris E Aday. Following Wilford's job with the railroad Janice moved to Chanute Kansas where they made their home and had two daughters Stacy (Aday) Dickerhoof and Sharla (Aday) Ports to complete their family. Janice remained in Chanute raising her family and working part time after the kids reached school-age. Janice had a love and talent for oil painting; that will live on in the pieces she shared with family. Janice was an active member of First Baptist Church where she spent many hours volunteering with Bible School, Nursery and ABW. After 36 years in Chanute, Janice again followed Wilford and the railroad to Lawrence KS. Janice was active in the FBC in Lawrence KS, where she was Nursery Coordinator and famous for her Baby Cakes. After retiring from the railroad Janice and Wilford moved back to Chanute to be with family and enjoy their retirement. Janice enjoyed traveling with Wilford, but loved spoiling her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Janice is survived by her husband Wilford E Aday of the home; son, Chris Aday and wife Jackie; daughters, Stacy Dickerhoof, Sharla Ports and husband Jeff who all reside in Chanute KS. Janice has 8 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren as well as a large extended family of nieces and nephews and two brothers, Roger Green and wife Patty of Grove OK, Jim Green and wife Jayne of Neosho MO.
She was preceded in death by her father and mother and step-mother, Novie Green and son-in-law, Robert Dickerhoof. Janice will be fondly remembered for her kind and giving spirit and beautiful smile.
Family will greet friends and family on Monday, September 23, 2019 from 5-7 p.m. at the First Baptist Church, 118 N. Forest in Chanute, KS. Funeral service will be on Tuesday, September 24, 2019 at 10 a.m. at the First Baptist Church in Chanute. Burial will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery in Chanute. The family suggests memorials to be made to American Baptist Women at the First Baptist Church and may be left with or mailed to the funeral home.
