Jerald F. Walker's Obituary
Jerald F. Walker, 91, of Fredonia, passed away Wednesday, August 31, 2022 at the Heritage Healthcare in Chanute. Jerald was born on June 28, 1931 in Green City, MO the son of Charles R and Esther N. (LaFaver) Walker.
Jerald was very athletic during high school, he then attended the University of Missouri. Both he and his brother set records in track and field in running races. Jerald enjoyed watching all types of sports, his favorite teams were the KC Chiefs and the KC Royals. He enjoyed going fishing and coon hunting, working in his garden, playing dominoes (Chicken Foot), but most importantly spending time with his family.
Jerald served in the U.S. Marines where he received a purple heart, during the Korean War. On May 16, 1954, Jerald married Bonnie R. Shelton. Jerald and Bonnie were married for over 60 years until her death on December 9, 2014. Jerald worked many years on a dairy farm, then worked on a hog farm for several years and retired from the Fredonia Co-op after 20 years of service. He then cut and sold wood for many years after retirement.

Jerald was preceded in death by his parents, wife Bonnie, siblings: Robert Walker, Wayne Walker and Mary Margaret Muder, and two son in laws Mark Huser and Larry Antley.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, September 3, 2022 at 10:00 AM, at the First United Methodist Church in Fredonia with burial to follow at the Fredonia City Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Friday, September 2, 2022 from 6-8 pm at Countryside Funeral Home in Fredonia. Memorials have been suggested to either the Fredonia Public Library, Old Iron Club or the United Methodist Church and may be left with or mailed to the funeral home.
