Jerry Lee McGinnis' Obituary
Jerry Lee McGinnis, age 58, a resident of Fredonia, Kansas passed away Monday, May 10, 2010 at the Fredonia Regional Hospital in Fredonia, Kansas. He was born on September 13, 1951 in Wichita, Kansas the son of Joseph and Stella (Amos) McGinnis.
Jerry was a graduate of Fredonia High School. In 1972 Jerry married Florrie Jones and they later divorced. On October 17, 1992 Jerry married Barbara Scott in Fredonia, Kansas. Jerry was a well known farmer and rancher. He was a member of the Cornerstone Christian Church in Fredonia. He was also a member of the NRA, Citizens Committee for the Right to Bear Arms, Watershed Board, Fredonia COOP and the Feeder Pig Association.
He is survived by his wife Barbara McGinnis of the home, his mother Stella McGinnis of Fredonia, Kansas, two sons Jesse McGinnis and Justin McGinnis both of Fredonia, Kansas, four daughters; Laurie Harrier of Erie, Pennsylvania, Lori Cooper of Fredonia, Kansas, Angela Speaks of Chanute, Kansas and Bre Thibodaux of Fredonia, Kansas, two sisters Shirley Baker of Lee’s Summit, Missouri and Janet Bathurst of Allen, Kansas and six grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his father Joseph McGinnis.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 AM, Friday, May 14, 2010 at the Cornerstone Christian Church in Fredonia with Pastor Mike Hughes officiating. Visitation will be held Thursday from 3 to 7 PM with the family receiving friends from 5 to 6 PM at the funeral home. Interment will be at the Fredonia Cemetery. The family suggests contributions to the Cornerstone Christian Church Building Fund and may be left with the funeral home. Online condolences may be left for the family at www.countrysidefh.com.
