Jerry Glynn Stirewalt's Obituary
Jerry Glynn Stirewalt, age 80, of Chanute, KS passed away on Tuesday, September 3, 2019, at St. Francis in Wichita, KS. Jerry was born on September 30, 1938 in Chanute, KS the son of Glynn and Sarah (Faubion) Stirewalt. He graduated from Erie High School in 1957. On July 31, 1960, he married Sharon Johnson in Erie, KS; she survives him at the home.
Jerry enjoyed working and staying busy from rebuilding cars and old John Deere tractors to fixing and building trailers. He also enjoyed renting out U-Haul equipment and most of all loved to farm. His family meant to the world to him and spending time with them and his beloved dog Izzy. He would always make time for his family and was known for his homemade ice cream that he would make every Sunday night and anytime family would come back to Chanute. Jerry will be missed by everyone that knew him.
Jerry is survived by his children: Tommy Stirewalt of Humboldt, KS, Kevin Stirewalt and wife Peggy of Rhome, TX, Kristie Winter and husband Brady of Andale, KS and Michelle Hutton and husband Doug of Overland Park, KS; grandchildren: Channing Stirewalt, Connor Stirewalt Skylar Hutton, Tenley Hutton, Ali Winter and Rylee Winter and a great granddaughter, Kinleigh Stirewalt.
Jerry was preceded in death by his parents and siblings, Virginia Langford and Toby Stirewalt.
The family will receive friends on Friday, September 6, 2019 from 5-7 p.m. at Countryside Funeral Home Johnson Chapel in Chanute, KS. Funeral service will be on Saturday, September 7, 2019 at 10 a.m. at the First Christian Church, followed by the burial at East Hill Cemetery in Erie, KS.
