Jimmie "Jim" L. Haines' Obituary
Jimmie “Jim” Haines, age 80, passed away October 27, 2014 in Chanute. Jim was born June 23, 1934 in Chanute, Kansas the son of Frank and Bernice (Allen) Haines.
Jim graduated from Vilas Rural High School and went on to serve in the United States Air Force. He earned the rank of Airman 1st Class and went on to serve in the Air Force National Guard and the Army National Guard. On October 31, 1954, Jim married Joyce Speiser in Chanute, KS. Jim was the Fire Chief for the Chanute Fire Department for many years before retiring. After retiring he drove a school bus for the Chanute school district. Jim most of all loved his family and he will be greatly missed.
Jim is survived by his wife; Joyce of the home, two sons; Joel Haines and wife Lisa of Oklahoma City, OK and Jerry Haines and wife Ronda Jo of Chanute, daughter; Jamie Acker of Chanute, brother; Gary Haines of Mustang, OK, sisters; Marylin Cushman of Chanute, Nancy Fail of Chanute and Norma Beck of Wichita, seven grandchildren and two great grandchildren; Alora and Madison.
He was preceded in death by his parents; Frank and Bernice.
Visitation will be held Thursday October 30, 2014, 6-8 p.m. at Countryside Funeral Home Gibson Chapel. Funeral services will be held Friday, October 31, 2014 at 1 p.m. at the First Baptist Church in Chanute.
Family suggests memorials to the National Kidney Foundation and may be left with or mailed to the funeral home.
