Joan Jean Prather's Obituary
Joan Jean Prather, age 72, a resident of Walnut Creek, California went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, June 4, 2013. She was born on January 3, 1941 the daughter of Lloyd and Mary (Towner) Prather.
Joan was a graduate of Sedan High School class of 1959. She earned her RN degree from the School of Nursing in Wichita, Kansas. Joan then joined the United States Air Force and served in Cam Ranh Bay during the Vietnam War. Before completing her tour of duty in the Air Force she earned the rank of Captain. Later she worked for Kaiser Medical Center in Oakland, California and retired from there as the Supervisor of Nurses for the Intensive Care Unit. Joan was a member of the American Baptist Church.
She is survived by one brother Fred White and his wife Tina of Sedan, Kansas, one nephew Scott White and his wife Jamie of Ottawa, Kansas, two nieces; Ginny Krenzin and her husband Jeremy of Louisville, Kentucky and Jana Joan Milligan and her husband Jim of Cleveland, Ohio, 4 great nieces and 2 great nephews.
Graveside memorial services will be held 10:30 a.m. on Monday, July 8, 2013 at the Longton Cemetery with Pastor John Warring officiating. Memorials are suggested to the Sedan Alumni Class of 1959 or Disabled American Veterans and may be sent to the funeral home. Online condolences may be left at www.countrysidefh.com. Arrangements are entrusted to Countryside – Zimmerman Funeral Home in Howard, Kansas.
