John Joseph Busse's Obituary
John J. Busse, 71, of Chanute, Kansas passed away on Friday, November 10th, 2017 surrounded by his loving family at the KU Med Center in Kansas City. He was born on June 19, 1946 in St. Paul, KS, the son of Louise (Johnston) and A. J. Busse. He graduated from Chanute High School in 1965 and attended Chanute Junior College from 1965-1966. He served in the United States Air Force from November 1, 1966 to July 16, 1970 as an aeronautical ground equipment specialist. On August 8, 1970, he and Patricia A. Taylor were united in marriage at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Chanute, KS. In September of 1971, he enrolled in Kansas State College of Pittsburg’s Vocational Technical Institute and received a certificate of completion of course work in Vocational Electricity on May 8, 1973. They moved back to Chanute and on June 1, 1973 and he began working for Southwestern Bell Telephone Co. as a cable splicing technician. He retired April 3, 2009 from AT&T with 36 years’ service. He was a member of and attended St. Patrick Catholic Church and served as a Eucharistic minister. John was an active member of the Knights of Columbus and a 4th Degree Knight holding many officer positions over the years.
John, his wife, Patty, and her father, James H. Taylor, were owners of T & B Concessions serving many local events in Southeast Kansas.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two brother-in-laws; Tom McAllister and John Snow, father and mother-in-law; Jim and Wilberta Taylor.
He is survived by his loving wife Patty of 47 years, son; John Patrick Busse of the home, siblings; Bill Coomes and wife Rosalea of Downey CA, Bob Coomes and wife Stella of Waco, TX, Judi McAllister of Euless, TX, Chuck Busse and wife Twila of Chanute, KS, Kathy Snow of Tahlequah, OK, and Susie Moore and husband Slim of Chanute, KS, sister-in-law; Alicia Fickel and husband Steve, brother-in-law; George Taylor and wife Jayne and many nieces and nephews.
Cremation has been requested. Rosary will be recited on Tuesday, November 14, 2017 at 7:30 pm at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Chanute, KS. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, November 15, 2017 at 10:30 am at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Chanute, KS. The Chanute Honor Guard is in charge of Military Honors.
