John LaClede DeMeritt, age 73, of Chanute, KS passed away on Wednesday, July 13, 2016 in Wichita, KS. John was born on September 16, 1942 in El Dorado, KS, the son of Harold DeMeritt and Blanche Sturm.
John graduated from Pleasanton High School. John is married to Carolyn Morrow and they have been together for 24 years. He loved to go fishing and just like any fisherman, he was a great story teller. John will be greatly missed.

John was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Gelda Conner and daughter-in-law Trina DeMeritt.
The family will have a memorial graveside service on Saturday, July 23, 2016 at 10 am at Odense Cemetery east of Chanute. Online condolences may be left at: www.countrysidefh.com. The family has requested memorials to go to the family for help defer funeral cost and may be left with or mailed to the funeral home.
