John Robert Hedges' Obituary
John Robert Hedges, age 66 of Elk City, KS died Saturday at Fredonia Regional Hospital. John was born on September 24, 1950 in Colony, KS, the son of Jean R. and Edna R. (Gregory) Hedges.
John was a graduate of Elk City High School class of 1969. John served in the US Army Reserves from 1970 until 1978. On August 31, 1973 John married Jackie K. Reed. John and Jackie were married for 43 years, she survives at their home.
John worked at the Independence Ready Mix as a truck driver for more than 30 years. He was a member of the Lone Cherry Baptist Church. John loved to fish, hunt, and trap, he loved being outdoors, and was currently working his new hobby as a bee keeper. John was known for being a practical joker and loved teasing his friends. Most of all, John loved being with his family and grandchildren.

John was preceded in death by his parents, sister Joyce McDonald and son-in-law Ronnie Edwards.
Cremation has been requested. The family will be holding a memorial service on Thursday, July 13, 2017 at 6:00 PM at the Elk City Cemetery with Pastor Terry Marta officiating.
