John Manuel Hernandez's Obituary
J. Manuel Hernandez, “Manny”, 41, Burrton, Kansas passed away August 25 at his home.
Manny was born September 27, 1982, to John Hernandez and Brenda McPherson,
in Wichita, Kansas. Manuel grew up in Wichita, attending Wichita South High School
where he excelled as a linebacker on the football team and as a catcher for the baseball
team for the Wichita South Titans. Later, at a chance Moline alumni event May 2001
Manny met the love of his life, his wife Christina Wiseman- Hernandez.
On June 16, 2007, the couple were married Eureka Springs, Arkansas. The couple shared
23 wonderful years raising three children creating a life of love, laughter, and joy.
Manny dedicated many years serving his community on the Burrton school board.
Manny spent a significant amount of his professional career serving as a store manager
for Walmart in Wichita, Kansas, he just recently received his 15-year plaque.
He took great pride in caring for all his family members and friends. Manny was a die- hard
Atlanta Braves fan and loved watching three children excel in several different sports.
He was the family jokester and as if wife says, “many didn’t know when he was being
serious or when it was sarcasm”. Above all, Manny treasured his time spent with his wife,
kids, family, and friends. He will be deeply missed but his memories will live in
the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to be a part of his life.
Manny is survived by his wife Christina of the home, his children Jazmin (Husband Ethan Folks)
of Colorado Springs, Leif (Fiancé Madison Diaz) of Washington, DC, Trystan of the home
his father John Hernandez of Moline Kansas, his father and mother in-laws Randy and Patty
Wiseman of Howard, Kansas, and his brother and sister in-law Charlie and Sherry
Wiseman of Latham, Kansas.
Manny was proceeded in in death by his mother Brenda McPherson, Grandmother Antonia
Hernandez, and his uncle James Hernandez.
Visitation will be Monday September 2nd , 4-6pm at Countryside Funeral Home in Howard, Kansas.
Funeral Mass will be held at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Moline, Kansas
on September 3 rd at 10am.
In lieu of flowers the J. Manuel Hernandez Memorial Fund has been set up in care of
Countryside Funeral Home Funeral Home.
