John S. Darst's Obituary
John S. Darst, 92, a resident of Fredonia, passed away Sunday, November 30 2008, in Fredonia, KS. John was born on September 23, 1916 in Fredonia, the son of Frank and Maud (Skaggs) Darst.
John attended school in Fredonia, going to South Mound and then Fredonia High School. On December 2, 1938 in Fayetteville, Arkansas John married Suzanne Jantz. They were married for 55 years until Suzanne’s death in 1993.
John was enlisted into the United States Marines, where he received his honorable discharge in 1945. John was a charter bus driver for 45 years, driving for Grey Hound, Goodwill Tours, Trailways and Kincaid Coach Lines, where he received numerous Safe Driving Awards. He was a member of the American Legion and Masons. He enjoyed talking on the C.B. and fishing, boating and playing golf. Most of all, he always had a smile on his face and enjoyed being with people.

John was preceded in death by his wife Suzanne, Daughter Sierra Jane Pinneo, Brother Bernard Darst and Sister Doreen Jensen.
Visitation will be Thursday December 4, 2008 from 2-7 P.M. Funeral Services will be held Friday December 5, 2008 at 10:00 am at Countryside Funeral Home, with Carl Thornton officiating. Burial to follow at the Fredonia City Cemetery. The Family suggests memorial contributions to the: American Diabetes Association and may be left with the funeral home.
