John E. "Johnny" Stowell's Obituary
John “Johnny” Stowell, 68, passed away on Thursday, November 12, 2015 at his home in Chanute KS. John was born on July 22, 1947 in Chanute, Kansas, the son of Lewis E. Stowell and Cecil M. (Brown) Stowell North.
On September 23, 1988 John married Carol (Sheedy) Stowell in Miami, Oklahoma. John had three children.
John worked as a glazer for Jayhawk Glass, Glass Depot and was an owner of SEK Glass. When not working John enjoyed hunting, fishing, and riding his Harley Davidson motorcycle. He was a woodworker and a jack of all trades. He enjoyed watching western movies and sports on television. John was a member of the Chanute Elks Lodge #806.
John was preceded in death by his parents, his son Anthony “Tony” Stowell, and sisters Patricia Vance, Ann Berkefeldt, and Nancy Benard.
He is survived by his wife, Carol; sons: Tanner John Stowell of Ft. Scott and Rick Stowell of Parsons; brothers: Jim Stowell of Pittsburg and Perry “Bear” North of Chanute; sisters: Nellie Hamilton of Emporia and Betty Wood of Chanute; 5 grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren and many members of his extended family.
A Memorial Service will be held on Friday, November 20, 2015 at 11:00 AM at the Church of the Nazarene in Chanute, Kansas.
Family requests memorials to Caring Voice or the Chanute Elks Lodge #806 and may be left with or mailed to the funeral home at 101 N. Highland, Chanute, KS.
