John Wilmer Evans, age 82, a resident of Howard, Kansas passed away Sunday, August 30, 2009 at the Greenwood County Hospital in Eureka, Kansas. John was born on August 30, 1927 in Reading, Kansas the son of Lewellyn T. and Johanna (Moore) Evans
John was a self employed logger. John enjoyed his work, liked to go fishing when he could and since he was young, he enjoyed gardening. On July 7, 1952 he married Peggy J. VanNote in Eureka Springs, Arkansas. They raised 5 children and were married for 57 years until his death.
John is survived by:

Lloyd Evans and his wife Cynthia of Howard, Kansas
John Wesley Evans and his wife Kathy of Joplin, Missouri
Gary Evans and his wife Audrey of Wichita, Kansas
Kevin Evans and his wife Lannie of Branson, Missouri
Sister:
Alice Summerfield of Muskogee, Oklahoma
11 Grandchildren and 8 Great Grandchildren
John was preceded in death by his parents; Two Sisters: Barbara Peachin and Kathryn Curlee
Cremation has been requested. The family will have an informal memorial service at the Cox Building (East Room) on Saturday September 5, 2009 receiving friends from 11:00 am until 1:00 pm. The family suggests memorial contributions to the American Heart Association and may be left with the funeral home.
