Jospeh Bonilla Godinez's Obituary
Joseph Bonilla Godinez, 91, died on May 2, 2019 at Diversicare Nursing Facility in Chanute, KS. He was born August 8, 1927 in Chanute, the son of Juan and Henriqietta Bonilla Godinez. He was raised and attended school in Chanute. On September 24, 1949, he married Fidela Quirarte. She survives at their home.
Joseph served in the U.S. Army during World War II in the HQ 13th Signal Service Battalion. He entered the Army in 1946 and was discharged in 1947. He was awarded the Army Occupation medal and World War II Victory medal. Joseph was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church, American Legion, VFW Post Commander, D.A.V., Elks, and Knights of Columbus.

Joseph was preceded in death by his parents; a brother; and two sisters.
Rosary will be recited on Wednesday, May 8, 2019 at 9:15 a.m. followed by Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Chanute, KS. Interment will take place at St. Patrick Cemetery. Legion Riders and Chanute Honor Guard will be in charge of military honors. Online condolences may be left at: www.countrysidefh.com.
