Joyce WyRinda Breiner's Obituary
Joyce WyRinda (Martin) Breiner born October 27, 1926 passed into God’s loving arms on February 14, 2024, at 97 years old. She was born to Mabel Bernice (Hall) Martin and Floyd Everett Martin near El Dorado, Kansas. She grew up and spent most of her teenage years working on the farm in Stark, Kansas.
At the young age of 14, she met the love of her life, Orville E. Breiner, age 17, while he was delivering milk to the family farmstead. With Orville leaving for WWII, Joyce vowed to write to him constantly, turning their whirlwind of romance into a love so great that they married as soon as he returned from war. They married on October 9, 1945 at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Chanute, Kansas, and enjoyed 76 years of married bliss together.
Joyce and Orville settled in Chanute, Kansas, and had 2 beautiful children, their pride and joy, daughter, Sharna F. (Breiner) Trotter and Orville E. Breiner II. Joyce was a dedicated mother raising her family while Orville worked away from home. Her passions were volunteering at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, Harvest House, Senior Citizens, and Alter Society. Joyce and Orville loved dancing together and could clear a dance floor by all of their moves, vacationing, play card and board games with friends, Bingo, enjoying their grandchildren’s softball games. Joce was known for being a wonderful baker, she could make anyone’s mouth water by the yummy smells of all of her baked goodies.
Joyce worked in Parsons, Kansas, at an ammunition plant from 1944-1945. She also put her talent for cooking and baking to good use while she worked in the Dietary Department for Neosho Memorial Hospital as well as in Food Services for Royster Junior High School.
Joyce is survived by daughter, Sharna Trotter (Bob) Coffeyville, KS, son, Orville E. Breiner II(Marilynn) Chanute, KS, six grandchildren- Darren Trotter, Coffeyville, KS, Jay Trotter, Coffeyville, KS, Melissa Cruz (Conrad) Leander, TX, Angela Davis, Friendswood, TX, Amanda Evans (Bryan) Lampe, MO, David Breiner (Megan) Paola, KS, ten great-grandchildren: Olivia and Noah Cruz, Darius and Thieron Davis, Amelia and Aiden Evans, and Shawn, Lucas, and Katelynn Breiner, and Aubrery Trotter, her sister Shirley Hammer, El Dorado, KS, sister-in-law Norma Maring, Osawatomie, KS, and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her soul mate, Orville E. Breiner, her parents, one brother Jack Martin, and three sisters: June Wade, Bernice Lundy, and Carol Sue Littlejohn.
Rosary will be recited on Monday, February 19, 2024 at 9:30 am at St. Patrick Catholic Church with Mass of Christian Burial to follow at 10:00 am. Interment will follow mass at St. Patrick’s Catholic Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorials have been suggested to Harry Hynes Hospice or St. Patrick Catholic Church and may be left with or mailed to the funeral home.
