Joyce Darlene Hull's Obituary
Joyce Darlene Hull went into the arms of her savior and waiting loved ones on March 15, 2015. Joyce was born October 17, 1944, to Leslie Lyle, Sr., and Mildred Davis. She attended Wichita North High School and graduated from Grenola High School. Joyce worked for Social and Rehabilitation Services, 19 years at Winfield State Hospital and Training Center, and was activities and social services director for the Moline Nursing Home. Joyce also wrote the Grenola news for the Winfield Courier for some time and always kept it entertaining. Joyce was a member of the Church of Christ for her entire life.
Joyce married William “Bill” Hull on February 9, 1963, and they lived a true love story for 52 years. They lived in Wichita, Douglass and Towanda and made their final home in Grenola, Kansas where they raised their family. Joyce loved spending time with her family and doting on her grandchildren and great- grandchildren. She enjoyed writing poetry, planning parties at work and for her family, and made every holiday special. She was well known for decorating her home for every holiday and sending cards to everyone she loved on every special occasion. Joyce’s faith and devotion to God was foremost in her life and was evident to all who knew her.
Survivors include her husband, Bill Hull of the home; her brother, Howard Davis of Sedan; her children, Curtis Hull and wife Harriet, of Wellington; Tammy Morris and her husband Shawn of Oxford; and Jodi Van Derhagen and husband Jerad of Grenola. Her grandchildren, Cody Morris and wife Shantel of Oxford; Josie Morris of Oxford; Dakota and Larissa Van Derhagen of Grenola; Cindy Round and family of Conway Springs; Donnie and Sandy Smith and family of Arkansas City; and her great grandchildren; Brilea Bailey and Tatum Morris of Oxford. She is also survived by her sisters-in-law; brothers-in-law; many nieces and nephews that she loved and treated as her own; her Cambridge and Sedan Church of Christ families; and many more friends and loved ones.
Preceding her in death were her parents and father-in-law and mother-in-law; her son, Lonnie Lee Hull; her brothers, Leslie Lyle Davis Jr and David Davis; and her sister, Janice Davis.
Honorary casket bearers are her nephews Mark, Randy, and Criss Davis and Alan Hull; her sons-in-law Shawn Morris and Jerad Van Derhagen; and her grandsons Cody Morris and Dakota Van Derhagen.
Countryside Funeral Home is in charge of the cremation. A memorial service to honor Joyce’s life will be held Saturday, March 21, 2015, at 11:00 a.m., at the Grenola Christian Church.
