Juanita Ann Gregg's Obituary
Juanita Ann Gregg, 94, of Chanute passed away at home surrounded by her family on Monday, March 11, 2024. Juanita was born on May 26, 1929, in Chanute, Kansas, the daughter of Ralph and Zephia Juanita (Carpenter) Newton.
Juanita (Nan to all her friends) grew up in Chanute, graduating from Chanute High School in 1947. After her graduation, Juanita married the love of her life, Marvin Gregg, at the Shawnee County Courthouse in Topeka. Juanita and Marvin were married for 70 years until his passing on September 5, 2017.
Juanita enjoyed doing a variety of crafts in her free time. She loved to paint, sew, crochet, quilt, bake, and research family genealogy. She also enjoyed fishing and camping with her family throughout the years.
Anyone who knew Juanita felt her kindness, generosity, and love. She will always be remembered as a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great-grandmother. Juanita is deeply loved and will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
Juanita is survived by her five children: Ricky Gregg (Teri) of Ft. Smith, AR, Debi Freeman (Gary) of Chanute, KS, Rob Gregg (Cherri) of Protem, MO, Trish Venneman (Mark) of Chanute, KS, and Roxanna Gregg of Chanute, KS; her brother Delbert (Louise) Newton and family of Springfield, MO; seven grandchildren, eighteen great-grandchildren, and two great-great grandchildren.
Juanita was preceded in death by her parents Ralph and Zephia, husband Marvin, and grandsons Christopher (CC) Freeman and Michael Gregg.
Cremation has been requested with a private family burial to take place at a later date. Memorials have been suggested to the Shriner's Hospital and may be left with or mailed to the funeral home.
