Obituary of June Gillespie
June Etta (Ramage) Gillespie passed away Saturday, November 26, 2016 surrounded by family. She was 96 years of age. She was born on July 7, 1920, Barnsdall, Oklahoma to Clarence and Cora Ramage. She grew up and attended school in the Winfield area.
On May 29, 1940, she married Wilbur Gillespie at St. Mary’s Church in Moline at 6:00 a.m. Wilbur and June made their home and raised their family in the Moline community throughout their lives. She worked in health care and was administrator of Elk Manor for many years before retiring.
June was a devoted member of St. Mary’s Church at Moline and was an active member of St. Mary’s Altar Society.
She is preceded in death by husband, Wilbur, and son, Mick, and grandson, Vince. Survivors include: her sons George (Diane) and Jim (Jean-deceased), both of Moline, KS., Edward (Dana) and Richard (Lisa), both of Wichita and Kevin (Barbara) of Mulvane; daughters Carolyn (Jim) Wilson of Rose Hill, Joan (Rocky) Welborn of Wichita, Cleo Jean (Don) Livergood of Caddo Mills, Texas, and Connie (Kevin) O’Neill of Fredonia; daughter-in-law Shirley Gillespie; 28 grandchildren, 53 great-grandchildren, 6 great-great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
The Rosary will be held at 9:30 am. followed by the Funeral Mass at 10:00 am. on Thursday, December 1, 2016 both at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Moline with Father Sixtus YeMyint officiating. Interment will be held at the Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Moline. A memorial has been established with the St. Mary’s Altar Society.
