On his 99th birthday Kelsey was the honored guest at the Longton Senior Center for coffee and birthday cake. During that gathering, he opened up and shared stories from his youth and life. It was a very special day for everyone there. It was remarkable to see how young farmers and ranchers admired and took inspiration from a true pioneer and innovator. It was only in the last few months that he wasn’t out feeding, spraying or checking fences. Those must have been hard months, not only because he was failing in health, but also because he wasn’t out doing the work himself. RIP, neighbor. John and Shari Cannon
