Kendall Dee Call's Obituary
Kendall Dee Call, 87, of Iola, KS passed away on April 12, 2018. He was born to Clifford E and Emma L (Hackett) Call on April 7, 1931 at the family home in Mildred, KS. He had 7 siblings; Beverly, Marilyn, Curtice, Merlyn, Jerry, Lawrence, and baby Joyce. Kendall graduated from Moran High School, where he played on the basketball team. After graduation, he worked on a road construction crew for John McAdams for 3 ½ years before entering the U.S. Navy in 1951 where he served his country for four years.
Kendall married Billie Brewington in Mildred, KS on June 10, 1951. They welcomed five children; Mike, Joyce, Tracy, Terry, and Randy. After his military service, he served as an officer for 20 years with the Iola Police Department. He also had his own construction company, Call Construction.
He was a loving husband, dad, and grandpa. He was raised on the family farm and was a very hard worker. Kendall was extremely talented and competitive, but also onery and stubborn. He passed these traits on to his children. In his spare time, he enjoyed shooting pool and entered many tournaments, winning many of them. He loved football and basketball, and especially enjoyed watching his grandchildren in their sporting events. Kendall was a member of the Elks Lodge in Iola, KS.
Kendall was a proud grandpa to 39 grandkids, great grandkids, and great-great grandkids. They were a source of much joy for him, which was evident in the way his face lit up every time they would visit.

Kendall was preceded in death by his parents; stepmom, Edna Call; brothers, Merlin, Curtis, Lawrence, and Jerry; and sisters, Marilyn and Joyce.
Kendall will lie in state at Countryside Funeral Home – Humboldt Chapel in Humboldt, KS on Monday, April 16, 2018 from 4:00-7:00 p.m. A graveside service will be held at Fairview Cemetery in Mildred, KS on Tuesday, April 17, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. Online condolences may be left at www.countrysidefh.com. Memorials have been suggested to the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital and may be left with or mailed to the funeral home.
