Kendall Charles Follmer's Obituary
On March 11, 2019, Kendall Follmer, passed suddenly in the comfort of his beloved workshop at the age of 64 years. He was born to Charles Follmer and the late Lila Follmer on December 17, 1954 in Wichita, Kansas. He was a 1974 graduate of Chanute High School and in 1980, Kendall graduated from the International Correspondence Schools of Interior Decoration and Design, a degree in which he was truly proud of. Kendall's career in Interior Design began with Koch's Furniture of Chanute which later provided the opportunity to become the dedicated owner and sole proprietor of Kendall's Upholstery Shop which opened in 1983. Kendall took great pride in his passion for interior design and the furniture that he produced.
Kendall was a lifelong lover of the Chanute Community Theatre, an active member of the First United Methodist Church, the Chanute Planning Commission and worked with the American Legion Riders and the Combat Warrior Program. Kendall was a giver with a large heart. He not only opened his home to those in need but also opened his profession and taught others his craft.
Kendall was proceeded in death by this beloved sister Kim, mother Lila and brother Kris. Kendall is survived by his sister-in-laws Tina (Kris) Follmer, Julie Follmer, nieces Lacy (Joseph) Hesslink, Leah (Milo) Graham, and great-nieces Lila, Katey and Kylie as well as by numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
Cremation has been requested. A memorial service will be held on Monday, March 18, 2019 10 a.m. at the First United Methodist Church in Chanute, KS. Online condolences may be left at: www.countrysidefh.com. The family suggests memorials to be made Chanute Community Theatre or First United Methodist Church and may be left with or mailed to the funeral home. Arrangements have been entrusted to Countryside Funeral Home, 101 N. Highland, Chanute, KS 66720.
