Kenneth Wayne Alger's Obituary
Kenneth Wayne Alger of Chanute, KS, died peacefully surrounded by his family on August 15, 2015 at Neosho Memorial Regional Medical Center. Kenneth was born to Warren and Margaret Alger on March 5, 1936 in Iola, KS, which also happened to be his mother’s birthday.
As a small child, the family moved to Chanute and Kenny has resided here ever since. He graduated from Chanute High School in 1954. Kenny worked in Chanute all of his life and held jobs with Osborn Oil, the City of Chanute, and Cornish Wireline, and ILC Products. He spent the last 13 years of his working years working as a custodian for USD 413. He loved fishing, traveling, and having his family all around him. Kenny was a member of the First Christian Church of Chanute, KS.
Kenny married his wife, Dora in Tulsa, OK on August 10, 1958. Dora and Kenny had two daughters, Debbie Shields of Chanute, KS, and Paula Clements who he now joins in heaven.
Kenny is survived by his wife, Dora, of 57 years, his daughter Debbie (Dude) Shields, his brother Howard (Donna) Alger, Five grandchildren, Aimee (Nick) Thompson, Jason (Brandi) Shields, Matt (Jene) Shields, Kemper Morris and Joshua Clements, and six great grandchildren.
Kenny is preceded in death by his brother, Melvin Alger, sister, Margie Cromwell, and his daughter Paula Clements.
Cremation has been requested.
There will be a graveside service on Friday, August 21 at 10:00 a.m. at Memorial Park Cemetery in Chanute, KS with Reverend Tom Eastman presiding. Visitation prior on Thursday August 20, 2015 at the Alger residence 921 W 9th from 6:00 p.m.-7:30 p.m. Family requests memorials to be made to USD 413 Foundation and may be sent in the care of the funeral home at 101 N Highland Chanute, KS 66720.
