Kenneth Michael Collins' Obituary
Kenneth Michael “Mike” Collins passed away at Neosho Regional Medical Center in Chanute, KS on Dec. 14, 2014; he was 62 years old. Mike was born on Nov. 3, 1952 in Chanute, KS; the son of Kenneth L. and Thelma (Kearn) Collins. He was raised in Chanute, KS, attending Chanute schools and eventually graduating from high school.
After high school Mike met and married Gail (Foster) on March 15, 1974 in Erie, KS. The couple was blessed with one son: Shane. Mike was self-employed and owned his own salvage yard. He had just recently retired from this business. Mike enjoyed hunting in his earlier years, fishing, watching his son Shane race stock cars, and especially spending time in Texas.
Kenneth Michael Collins was preceded in death by his father and two sisters: Melanie and Helen Collins. He is survived by his mother, Thelma Collins; his wife of the home in Thayer, KS: Gail (Foster) Collins; his son: Shane Collins and wife Jeannie of Thayer, KS; a brother: Steve Collins and wife Betty of El Dorado, KS and one granddaughter: Breah Collins of Thayer, KS.
Graveside Services for Mike Collins are scheduled for Wednesday, Dec. 17, 2014 at 10:30AM at Thayer Cemetery in Thayer, KS. No formal visitation is planned; the family suggests memorials be made to Castaways Animal Shelter in Chanute, KS; they may be sent in care of Countryside Funeral Home 101 N.
