Kenneth "Randy" Parkins' Obituary
Kenneth Randall “Randy” Parkins, age 57, of Chanute, passed away September 15, 2014 at his home. Randy was born June 6, 1957 in Chanute the son of John and Betty (Fackler) Parkins.
Randy attended school in Chanute and graduated with the class of 1975. He then attended Phillips University in Enid, OK graduating with a Bachelor’s Degree in Religion and Sociology. Randy then attended Phillips Seminary for one year. He served as youth minister in Spencer, IA, Nevada, MO., Ulysses, KS, and Chanute. Randy also served as assistant activity director for Herold Heights Nursing Home.
Randy was a member of the First Christian Church. He enjoyed working with model trains and doing activities with his nieces and nephews. He was an avid reader, his favorite being his train magazine. He loved music and played the trumpet with his brother Jeff. Randy enjoyed watching both K.U. and Chiefs games.
Randy is survived by his mother; Betty Parkins of Chanute, brother; Jeff Parkins of Oklahoma City, OK, sister; Lisa Girard and husband Greg of Branson, MO., niece; Stephany Heck and husband Louis, nephew; Trenton Brooks, and great-nephew Clay Heck all of Chanute, KS.
He was preceded in death by his father; John Parkins.
Visitation will be held Wednesday, September 17, 2014 from 6-8 p.m. at the Countryside Funeral Home Gibson Chapel, 16 N. Forest, Chanute, KS. A Celebration of Life service will be held Thursday, September 18, 2014 10:30 a.m. at the First Christian Church of Chanute.
Family suggests memorials to the First Christian Church and may be left with or mailed to the funeral home.
