Knut Haakon Schaad's Obituary
Knut Haakon Schaad, age 80, passed away Thursday, September 1, 2016 at Medicalodge of Independence, Kansas. Knut was born August 31, 1936 to parents Gunner and Astrid (Knudson) Schaad in Oslo, Norway. After becoming a United States citizen, Knut served his country in the Air Force before becoming a professional truck driver for Prime, Inc. He fully retired in 2000 and on October 1, 2006, at the Moline United Methodist Church, he married Linda Kay Chapman, who resides at their home in Howard, Kansas. Knut was a member of the Howard Lions Club, was involved with the Howard Chamber of Commerce and participated in several events with the Elk County Community Choir. He also was often put in charge of the Annual Crop Walk sponsored the United Methodist Church of Howard. Knut was passionate about his love of music, especially the classical and spiritual genre and had also collected little model cars for many years. Knut’s love for his dogs, Jonah, the black lab, Sparky, Daisy, and Brownie was also quite evident as he loved playing with them.
Knut leaves behind to mourn his passing his wife, Linda, his brother Roar Schaad of Las Vegas, Nevada and a host of nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Rolf Schaad. Cremation has been effected and a private memorial will be held at a later date.
