LaDica Faye Dixson's Obituary
LaDica Faye (Mitchell) (Malson) Dixson, age 97, passed away Tuesday, March 17, 2015 at NMRMC in Chanute, KS. LaDica was born September 30, 1917 in Earlton, KS.
LaDica graduated from Chanute High School in 1935. Throughout her career she worked in the field of Cosmetology, owning beauty shops, teaching and managing cosmetology schools in both Hutchinson, KS and San Mateo, CA. LaDica married Kelley Malson in 1936. They later divorced. In 1954 she married Marvin Dixson, and he preceded her in death.
After retirement LaDica returned to Chanute. She joined and was an officer in the National Association of Retired Federal Employees (NARFE) Organization, and Family, Community and Education (FCE) Organization. Over the years LaDica was an officer in all of her organizations. A special award was presented to her for 28 years of service working for Alzheimer‘s Research. LaDica was also an active member of the First Christian Church of Chanute.
She is preceded in death by her parents; Mary and Alfred Elliott, both of her husbands; Kelley Malson, and Marvin Dixson, and brother John Elliott.
Survivors include her special friend; Arty Basye, daughters, Dr. Carolyn Kay Moorman of Manhattan, KS, LaDonna Bailey of Neodesha, KS, step-children; Jim Dixson, of Manhattan, KS, Pamela Church of Portland, OR, 16 grandchildren, 33 great-grandchildren, 7 great-great grandchildren.
Visitation will be held Sunday, March 22, 2015 from 4-6 p.m., at Countryside Funeral Home Gibson Chapel. Funeral Services will be held Monday, March 23, 2015 at 10:30 a.m., at the First Christian Church of Chanute. Interment will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery. Family suggests memorials to the First Christian Church or the charity of your choice, and may be left with the funeral home.
