Larry Joe Beck's Obituary
Larry Joe Beck, 71, of Chanute, KS, passed away at Wesley Medical Center in Wichita, KS on May 6, 2018. He was born in Chanute, KS on February 21, 1947 to Charles O. and Margaret Iyvonne (Tripp) Beck. He grew up in Chanute, attending the rural school #44 through eighth grade, before moving to Chanute High School where he graduated in 1967. He joined the Marines, and continued serving his country even after being honorably discharged, by joining the National Guard.
He was a dedicated, professional, and knowledgeable machinist from a young age, and worked as an oilfield machinist overseas from 1974 until he retired in 2015. He was a hard worker and traveled all over the world, spending 6-month stretches at sea with only a week off in between for over 11 years. He met his wife, Sabrina, in Vietnam and settled down in Phoenix, AZ with her after returning from his overseas work. After she preceded him in death, he returned to Chanute, KS.
