Larry Joe Martin's Obituary
Larry Joe Martin, age 80 of Howard, KS, passed away December 12, 2019 at Eureka Nursing Center in Eureka, KS.
Larry was born September 2, 1939 in Okeene, OK to Edward and Rebecca (Bierig) Martin. He grew up alongside 8 siblings, graduating from Okeene High School in the class of 1958. He spent 2 years serving in the United States Army from 1962 to 1964.
On May 22, 1987 Larry married Saundra “Sue” Rhudy in Wichita, KS after dating several years. They made their home in Wichita until 2017, when they moved to Howard, KS. Larry was a bit of a workaholic, as he would run a printing press during the day, and crop farmed in the evenings, growing wheat and soybeans. After retiring from the printing company, he farmed full time. He liked to hunt deer and quail, set trout lines, and gig frogs.
Larry loved spending time with the buddies he had met over the years at the local watering hole just a couple blocks from their home in Wichita. He never forgot them, and even after moving to Howard and his failing health, Sue made several trips taking Larry back to Wichita so he could continue seeing his buddies there. Being from Oklahoma, Larry was also an avid OU Sooner fan.
Larry is survived by his wife Sue of the home.
