Lela Marie Phillips' Obituary
Lela Marie Phillips, age 95 formly of Chanute, KS, passed away on Sunday, February 3, 2019 in Rose Hill, KS. Lela was born on August 26, 1923 in Erie, KS, the daughter of Guy A. and Ruby J. (LaRue) Whitworth. Lela graduated from Grand Township Rural High School in Stark, KS in 1942. She married Wallace Honn and he preceded her in death. She then married Bill Phillips and later John Akers and they both preceded her in death.
Lela was always an active person and loved to go dancing with John in Fredonia and playing pool at the Chanute Senior Center. She enjoyed giving to a lot of different charities and helping those that needed rides to the doctors, hair salons and running errands. Lela was a kinda and loving mother and was loved by so many people. She was a godly woman and loved to pray with people. She was a member of Faith Bible Church in Chanute. Lela loved her family and she will be greatly missed.

Lela was preceded in death by her parents; husbands: Wallace Honn, Bill Phillips and John Akers; daughter, Nancy M. Honn; infant son, Jackie E. Honn; sisters, Betty Bohling and Neva Fehr; granddaughter, Samantha Simler and great granddaughter, Nichol Freeman.
A visitation will be on Thursday, February 7, 2019 from 4-6 p.m. at Countryside Funeral Home Johnson Chapel 101 N. Highland, Chanute, KS. Funeral service will be on Friday, February 8, 2019 at 1 p.m. at Faith Bible Church in Chanute. Burial will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery in Chanute. Online condolences may be left at: www.countrysidefh.com. The family suggests memorials to be made Faith Bible Church or Harry Hynes Hospice and may be left with or mailed to the funeral home.
