Leona Kathern Burt's Obituary
Leona Kathern Burt, formally of Fredonia, Kansas, age 100, died Monday, April 4, 2011 at the Good Samaritan care facility in Olathe, Kansas. Leona was born on January 18, 1911 in Koeltztown, Missouri, the daughter of Frank and Denna (Lock) Sandbothe.
Leona came to Kansas about 1915 with her parents. She was a lifelong member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church. On January 1, 1930 she married James R. Burt in Fredonia. Leona and Jim were married for 66 years until his death of December 17, 1996.
Leona lived all of her married life in the Fredonia area, besides being a home maker; she worked hard along with her husband on the farm. Leona enjoyed feeding the animals, doing the milking, and driving the tractor. Leona enjoyed quilting and sewing, she enjoyed going to dances and listening to music. Most of all, Leona enjoyed being with and watching her family grow. In March of 2003, Leona suffered a stroke and moved to the Good Samaritan Center in Olathe, Kansas.

10 Grandchildren, 23 Great Grandchildren and 20 Great-Great Grandchildren
Leona was preceded in death by her parents, husband Jim, two sisters; Martha Cronan and Emma Jones, three brothers; Bernard, Oscar and Luie Sandbothe and 1 son-in-law Frank Vaughn.
Mass of Christian burial will be held Saturday, April 9, 2011 at 10:30 A.M. at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 13th & Madison, in Fredonia, Rosary will be recited at 10:00 AM with Father Steve Thapwa officiating, burial to follow at the Sacred Heart Cemetery in Fredonia. Visitation will be held on Friday April 8, 2011 from 6-8 PM at Countryside Funeral Home in Fredonia. Memorials have been suggested to either the Good Samaritan Center or the Sacred Heart Church and may be left with the funeral home. Online condolences may be left at: www.countrysidefh.com.
