Leota May Robinson's Obituary
Leota May Robinson, 90, a long time resident of rural Buffalo, Kansas passed away on Sunday, July 16, 2023 at Morningstar Care Homes, Neodesha, Kansas.
Leota was born October 28, 1932 to Lee and Marion (Trowbridge) Horney. She grew up in Yates Center, Kansas until moving to El Dorado, Kansas for her senior year of high school. She graduated from El Dorado High School in 1950.
Leota worked in the Wilson County Treasurer's Office and County Clerk's office a total of 27 years until she retired January 31, 2012. She also worked part-time at City Drug and Health Mart in Fredonia for a number of years. She was an active member of the Buffalo United Methodist Church. Her family was her pride and joy and she cherished every moment spent with them. She seldom missed a school activity or sports event of any of her children or grandchildren, making sure all family events were well documented by pictures. Her personal goal was seeing all her granddaughters graduate from high school. She was a homemaker and loved trying new recipes and cooking for her family.
On November 14, 1951 she married Johnnie L. Robinson in Eureka, Kansas. To this union they had three children: Kathryn, Johnnie Lynn and Randall.
Leota was preceded in death by her husband, Johnnie (1993); son, Johnnie Lynn (1961); her parents and her siblings, Estel Lee Horney and Sarah Jane Robinson.
Leota is survived by her daughter, Kathryn (Jonathan) James of Buffalo, Kansas; son, Randall (Gennette) Robinson of Altoona, Kansas. Granddaughters, Alisha (William) Oetting, St. Louis, MO; Leslie (Josh) Hite of Fredonia, Kansas; and, Katie Robinson of Overland Park, Kansas. Great Grandchildren, Carter and Gavin Oetting and Karsyn Hite.
Visitation will be held from 5:00 to 7:00 PM on Thursday, July 20, 2023 at Countryside Funeral Home in Fredonia.
Funeral Services will be at 10:30 AM on Friday, July 21, 2023, at the United Methodist Church in Buffalo, officiated by Pastor Randy DePriest.
Interment will follow in Buffalo Cemetery.
