Lester Gallon's Obituary
Lester Gallon, 97, a resident of Benedict, Kansas, died Thursday, September 20, 2007 at his home. He was born February 25, 1910 in Woods County, Oklahoma, the son of Fred C. and Josephine (Springer) Gallon.
On May 26, 1939 in Tulsa, Oklahoma, he married Olga “Louise†Blair. She preceded him in death on December 16, 2006.
Lester graduated from Alva, Oklahoma High School, he then received his bachelors degree from Northwestern State, furthering on to receive his masters degree from Oklahoma State University. Throughout his career, Lester taught and worked as a school administrator in various locations in Oklahoma and Kansas, retiring as the school Superintendent in Benedict, Kansas. Along with his many years of working in the various school districts, he also farmed.
Lester was one of the founding board members for the #5 Water district. He loved to fish, as long as they were biting within the first 20 to 30 minutes of baiting his hook, he enjoyed playing bridge, photography, and watching high school sports. Most of all he loved his family.

Two Sons: John Gallon and wife Donna of Benedict, KS
James Gallon and wife Barbara of Harrisonburg, VA
Two Daughters: Leslie Rikard and husband Bob of Golden, MO
Mary Schaake and husband Tom of Benedict, KS
Six Grandchildren, Nine Great Grandchildren
He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, John and Autmer Gallon, four sisters: Dorothirose Rose, Emma Erdman, Marie Wesley and Oma Alderson.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 A.M. on Tuesday, September 25, 2007 at the Countryside Funeral Home P.O. Box 247, 420 S. 20th St. Fredonia, KS 66736 with Pastor Roy Varner officiating. Burial will at the High Prairie Cemetery. Visitation will be Monday from 8:00 am until 8:00 pm with the family receiving friends from 6-8 pm.
