Leverne Ratzlaff's Obituary
Leverne Ratzlaff, age 76, a resident of Fredonia, Kansas passed away Friday, January 2, 2009 at the Fredonia Regional Hospital. Leverne was born on December 25, 1932 in Walsh, Colorado the son of Peter and Bessie Mae (Thomas) Ratzlaff.
On October 28, 1956 Leverne was united in marriage to Darlene Anderes at the First United Methodist Church in Fredonia. Leverne served in the United States Army. He worked for the Excelser Brick Yard and Gladding Del-Rey in Fredonia. He was a member of the American Legion and past member of the Eagles were he was in charge of organizing the dances. In his spare time Leverne enjoyed fishing, hunting, gardening, and watching Late Model racing at the dirt tracks.
He is survived by his wife Darlene of Fredonia, three sons; Randy, Rusty and his wife Janet, and Ricky and his wife Gayla all of Fredonia, one daughter Diana Mayhew and her husband Mike of Neodesha, Kansas, three sisters; Mary Irene Schultz of LaFontaine, Kansas, Violet Chapman of Ottawa, Kansas, and Rosalene Ratzlaff of Neodesha, Kansas, nine grandchildren, and 4 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, three sisters; Emmy Koehn, Leona Hazen, and Wilma Ratzlaff, three brothers; Earl, Vernon, and Allen.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, January 7, 2009 at 11:00 AM at Countryside Funeral Home with Rev. Gene Benefiel officiating. Visitation will be Tuesday from 3 to 7 PM with family receiving friends from 5 to 7 PM at the funeral home. Interment will be at the Fredonia Cemetery. Family suggests contributions to the Fredonia Regional Hospital and may be left with the funeral home. Online condolences may be left at www.countrysidefh.com.
