Lila Lee Miller's Obituary
Lila Lee (Shanks) Miller, age 90 passed away on Saturday, January 20, 2018 at Eureka Nursing Center. Lila was born August 14, 1927 to Glenn and Mabel (Barnaby) Shanks of Longton. On June 20, 1948, Lila married Owen Sherman Miller at the home of her parents in Howard, KS. Owen and Lila were married 43 years until his death on July 4, 1991. To this union was born one son, David Lynn Miller.
Lila was a homemaker, but held many other jobs along the way. She worked as a waitress, had a sewing and upholstery business, school cook, and had a day care. Lila was a member of the Moline United Methodist Church. Lila loved to go to “coffee” at the local restaurants and visit with the waitresses and other patrons.
Lila loved family. She was devoted to being at every Shanks family gathering. She didn’t miss any of David’s activities and she went to all of her grandchildren’s events.
Lila was preceded in death by her husband, Owen, her parents, and her sister Marge. She is survived by her son, David and wife, Lynne of Howard, grandchildren Cortney, Seth, and Cade. She is also survided by sisters Kate Rader, Gleneva Winn, both of Howard, KS, Donna Kaminska, Longton, KS, brothers Robert Shanks of Topeka, KS, and Jerry Shanks of Independence, KS.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, January 25, 2018 at 2:00 PM at Countryside Funeral Home in Howard, with burial to follow at the Moline City Cemetery. Visitation will be held Wednesday, January 24, 2018 from 6-7 PM at the funeral home. Online condolences may be left at: www.countrysidefh.com.
