Linda Kay Reid's Obituary
Linda Kay Reid age 67 of Pittsburg, KS passed away Sunday, October 16th, 2016 at Landmark Hospital, Joplin, MO.
Memorial services will be held 1:00 p.m., Saturday, November 5th at the Flint Hills Assembly of God Church, Howard, KS with Rev. Robin Haines conducting the service. Graveside service will be at the Grace Lawn Cemetery in Howard.
Memorials suggested are: Kansas Special Olympics or Flint Hills Assembly of God Church and may be left with the Church.
Linda Reid was born Feb. 16th, 1949 at Mercy Hospital, Independence, KS to Dr. and Mrs. Richard Reid of Howard, KS. She took classes at the Institute of Logopedics in Wichita, KS from age 4 to 6 years. Later, she attended Howard public schools, before moving to the Parsons (KS) Training Center & Norton (KS) Training Center. As an adult, she was a resident at SDSI in Garden City, KS, then Martin Luther Homes in Winfield, KS, Mosaic Homes in Winfield, KS & last year moved to Mosaic Homes in Pittsburg, KS to be closer to family.
Linda loved competing in the Kansas Special Olympics & won many medals over the years. Linda’s great-nephew, Sean Hurst continues her interest in the Kansas Special Olympics by fundraising for the Special Olympics each year.
Linda was a member of the Presbyterian Church, attending while she lived in Howard, KS. Later, she attended church in Parsons, Norton, Winfield and Pittsburg, KS. Linda loved Jesus, her family and
anything Elvis. She was a truly joyous person.
She was preceded in death by her grandparents, V.L. & Eda Durand; Dr. Frank & Margaret Reid. Also preceding her in death were her parents, Dr. Richard & Reola Reid.
Survivors include her brothers, Michael & wife Beverly Reid of Springfield, MO, Brad & wife Kim Reid of Holiday Island, AR.
She is also survived by nieces and nephews: David Reid, Stephanie Reid, Jeremie Reid, Natasha (Reid) Hurst, Ashley (Reid) Hooper, Neil Brock, Stacye Gaar.
Additional survivors include aunt Gladys Reid & uncle Lewis Reid (Salina, KS) and uncle Jerry Griffith (Lawrence, KS).
Linda is also survived by cousins Debbie (Reid) Mountsier, Sharon (Reid) Rauschenbach, Marsha (Reid) Franklin, Rob Griffith, Rochelle (Griffith) McKown, Susan (DeFever) Sullivan, Diane (DeFever) Klingman, Larry DeFever, Nancy (DeFever) Komenda.
