Lois Cecil (Sias) Spencer's Obituary
Lois Cecil Spencer, 98, passed away on Thursday, November 26, 2015 at Heritage Healthcare in Chanute, KS. Lois was born on September 20, 1917 in Fredonia, KS the daughter of Ethel (Smith) and Roy C. Sias, Sr.
Lois graduated from Fredonia High School in 1936. On January 11, 1937, Lois married Lee Spencer in Fredonia, KS. Lee preceded her in death on March 5, 1994.
Lois worked for a newspaper for several years while she was younger. Once her and Lee had children, she decided to stay at home and take care of her family. After the kids were all grown, Lois went back and worked as a cook for nursing home. Lois was a member of the National Honor Society. Lois most of all enjoyed her grandchildren and spending time and taking care of them.
Lois was preceded in death by her husband, her parents; a son, Bill Spencer; 2 sisters: Margie Jones and Anita Christman and 2 brothers: Roy Sias and Jim Sias.
She is survived by three children: Robert Spencer and wife Sarah of Chanute, Carolyn Goodrich and husband Joe of Rushville, IL and Clarice Reinhardt of Chanute; a brother, Richard Sias of Edmond, OK; 8 grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.
Cremation has taken place.
Private family service will be at a later date.
Family requests memorials to be given to the Chanute Library and may be left with or mailed to the funeral home at 101 N. Highland, Chanute, KS.
