Lola E. "Betty" Spilman's Obituary
Lola E. “Betty” Spilman, 95, of Fredonia, and formerly of Independence, KS, passed away on Monday, April 10, 2023 at the Morningstar Care in Fredonia. Betty was born on August 18, 1927 in Collinsville, OK the daughter of John Walker and Thelma Burrell (Maxwell) Oglesbee.
After completing high school, Betty married Robert Charles Spilman on August 18, 1950, Robert survives at their home. Betty dedicated her life to taking care of her family and their home. Betty was a natural care giver, she also took care of her parents in their later years and also made sure her close neighbors were taken care of when they needed a helping hand.
Betty worked alongside her husband taking care of their large garden, canning, and enjoyed making homemade candy together, she was known to crochet a lot and could even take a short nap, wake up, and never drop a stitch, she also enjoyed taking the time to read a good romance novel when she could.

Betty was preceded in death by her parents and brothers Donnie Oglesbee and Bob Oglessbee and Norman Burkett.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, April 24, 2023 at 11:00 AM at Countryside Funeral Home in Fredonia. Visitation will be held 1 hour prior to service time, with burial to follow at Mt. Hope Cemetery in Independence. Memorials have been suggested to the Fredonia Pound Pals and may be left with or mailed to the funeral home.
