Lou West's Obituary
Lou West, age 89, of Chanute, passed away on Monday, February 20, 2017 in Chanute, KS. She was born on October 16, 1927 in Erie, KS, the daughter of Cleo “Slim” and Isabel (Versaw) Winans.
On June 15, 1947, Lou married Floyd L. West, Jr. at the First Christian Church in Chanute, Kansas. Floyd preceded her in death on January 23, 1998 after 50 years of marriage.
Lou worked in banking for over 40 years. She loved her job and loved helping people through her job. Spending time with and helping out people was one of her favorite things to do, whether it was helping them get a loan or hosting family and friends at her home. When she wasn’t working she enjoyed being outdoors and working in her garden, or spending time with her grandchildren. She also loved being a member of the First Baptist Church in Chanute where she taught Sunday School and was a youth sponsor. She lived her life doing everything she could for others.

Lou was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Floyd, a son, J. Scott West; a brother, Jack Winans; and a grandson, Nic Halloway.
A Visitation is scheduled for Wednesday, February 22, 2017 from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at the First Baptist Church in Chanute, Kansas. A Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, February 23, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at the church. Online condolences may be left at: www.countrysidefh.com.
