Lynnea M. Cox's Obituary
Lynnea Marie Cox, 69, a resident of Fredonia, passed away Thursday, August 10, 2017, at Wesley Medical Center in Wichita.
Lynnea was born August 9, 1948 in Independence, Kansas to Lloyd and Estal Henderson. She was a graduate of Fredonia High School class of 1966 and remained close with many of her classmates. Lynnea married her high school sweetheart Joe Cox May 27, 1967. Lynnea and Joe enjoyed motorcycle trips to the Ozarks with their friends with Lynnea often hanging off the back of the motorcycle taking pictures. Tragically she lost both her best friend Linda Wells and her husband Joe in 1984.
Lynnea started seeing her “fella” Rodney Folger in 1986 and they continued their relationship for 31 years until her death. Rodney and Lynnea enjoyed trips to Table Rock Lake, waterskiing, and scuba diving. Lynnea was employed as a graphic artist at Ladow and Spohn until having a stroke in 1996 which left her paralyzed on her left side.
Lynnea enjoyed making and collecting pottery, tending to her flowers on her patio and caring for her pets. She was known for her Christmas care packages of fudge and homemade candy all made using one hand. She battled numerous illnesses and physical challenges but continued to live life to the fullest.
Survivors include her daughter Cassandra (Cox) LeMasurier and husband Kevin of Ft. Lauderdale, Florida; her longtime companion Rodney Folger of Altoona, Kansas; her mother Estal Henderson of Fredonia, Kansas; sister-in-law Laura Henderson of Fredonia, Kansas; niece Erica Henderson of Lawrence, Kansas; brother-in-law Butch Cox and wife Sandra of Fredonia, Kansas; and nephews Jon and Jeff Cox of Fredonia, Kansas.
She was preceded in death by her husband Gary Joe Cox; her father Lloyd Henderson; and her brother Lyndon Henderson.
Cremation has taken place with Celebration of Life, memorial graveside services to be held at Fredonia City Cemetery on Friday, August 18, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. with a gathering at the Fredonia Senior Citizen Center to follow. Memorials have been suggested to the Lynnea M. Cox Scholarship Fund or the Fredonia Pound Pals and may be left with or mailed to the Countryside Funeral Home, 420 S. 20th St., PO Box 247, Fredonia, Kansas 66736.
