Mable Jo Mitchell's Obituary
Mable Jo Mitchell, 95, of Severy, KS, passed away Saturday, June 13, 2026, at the Eureka Nursing Center. Mable Jo was born August 29, 1930, in Fredonia, KS the daughter of Bernard Adolph and Frances Mary (Hyde) Koch.
After completing high school, Mable Jo married Harold Dean Mitchell on April 3, 1949. That was the beginning of a 56-year journey based on love, wit, dedication, hard work, and a strong faith in God. Mable Jo and Harold made it a point to have fun and make the most out of life, leaving lasting memories for their family.
While raising her family, Mable Jo got her CDL license, to drive trucks hauling rock to help her husband with his jobs. She enjoyed working in their yard, keeping it mowed, raising and growing roses, and watching the hummingbirds swarm her property. When not working, she was active with her church and was a strong member of the United Methodist Women’s Club. She enjoyed playing cards with her Bridge Club, having coffee dates with friends, sharing her faith in God, and most importantly, loving her grandchildren.

George Perry Koch of Wichita, KS
Nina Ellen Beaudreaux of Florida
Eight Grandchildren, Fourteen Great-Grandchildren, and Six Great-Great Grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Harold, Four siblings: William A. Koch, Robert Koch, Maxine Steves and Mary Livingston.
Cremation has been requested with a graveside memorial to be held on Friday, June 26, 2026, at 10:30 am at Twin Grove Cemetery in Severy, KS. Memorials in her memory have been suggested to the Severy United Methodist Church and may be left with or mailed to the funeral home.
