Margery M. Wooderson's Obituary
Margery M. (Madison) Wooderson, 92-years-old, died on Monday, August 15, 2016, at Medical Lodge East in Ark City, Kansas. Margery lived all of her days as an example for her children and others. With a steadfast and unwavering faith in the Lord God, she remained completely positive throughout all of her 92 years of life.
Margery was born on July 6, 1924 in Bethany, Missouri to Reno and Mabel (Bulthaupt) Madison. The 3rd child of 11, Margery was the last living charter member of the founding of the Severy Baptist Church. Margery was also known to be very active in the Severy EHU and was a 4-H project leader for many years in the areas of cooking and horticulture. She also cared for many a child in her home and parents fondly remember the care she so lovingly gave.
Margery married Cecil Wooderson on January 27, 1943 in Bethany, Missouri and to this union were born 6 children: Diana, Nancy Jean, Vivian, Joni, Alan and Chris. Possessing a true servant’s heart, Margery faithfully cared for her family and friends through delicious cooking and baking—including baking bread, cinnamon rolls for Ervin’s café and her children who fondly remember coming home to fresh baked bread and those delicious donuts—which were like none other. Margery was also quite the gardener and was said to have been “organic” before the word was even invented. Her beautiful flowers that adorned her yard in Severy, Kansas were a testament to her horticulture knowledge. A woman of faith and a Christ-like heart, Margery shaped her spirituality by her tireless Christian example. She worked in the home and for some time as the Treasurer/Clerk for the city of Severy, while completing her checks and balances as the accountant in long hand.
Margery is survived by her children: Diana Blatchford of Ark City, Kansas; Nancy Jean and husband, Clarence Taliaferro of Severy, Kansas; Vivian and husband, Richard Wade of Climax, Kansas; Joni and husband, David Brooks of Helena, Montana; Alan and wife, Kathleen Wooderson, of Benton, Kansas; and Chris and wife, Jana Wooderson of Ark City, Kansas; sisters Ruthann and husband, Leland Musick of Bethany, Missouri, Patty and husband, C.B. Tripp of Holt, Missouri and brother Willis and wife, Jane Madison of Soldotna, Alaska, 18 Grandchildren and 24 Great-grandchildren.
