Marie Sylvia Webster's Obituary
Marie Sylvia Webster, 76, of Chanute passed away on Thursday, July 13, 2023 at Diversicare in Chanute. Marie was born on September 11, 1946 in Pittsburg, Kansas, the only child of Floyd and Gertrude (Suttlage) Percy.
Marie grew up in Pittsburg and graduated from Pittsburg High School in 1964. Marie attended Kansas State College of Pittsburg, now known as Pittsburg State, and graduated with her bachelor’s degree in 1971. On May 20, 1972, Marie married the love of her life William Webster, he survives.
William and Marie were very involved in the Big Brothers and Big Sisters program and really enjoyed spending time with and mentoring children. William and Marie also enjoyed raising beagles and chickens at their house in the country.
Marie was an avid collector and really took pride in her collection of dolls, angels, and turtles; she once collected butterflies and pinned them to cardboard and wrote down their etymology.
Marie was also a member of First Presbyterian Church in Chanute, and lived her life according to the Word of the Lord. Marie will be loved and missed by all her knew her.
Marie is survived by her husband William Webster of Chanute.
Marie was preceded in death by her parents and grandparents.
