Martin Merle Conrad I's Obituary
Martin Merle Conrad I, age 77, of Fredonia passed away Tuesday, October 22, 2013 at his residence in Fredonia. Martin was born June 6, 1936 in Fredonia, the son of Alonzo and Etta May (Carroll) Conrad. Martin attended school and graduated from Fredonia High School with the class of 1954.
Martin married Lois Buchanan at Fredonia in 1959 and the couple had five children. They later divorced, but remained friends until her passing in 2010. Martin served in the Air Force and later worked for the City of Fredonia for 38 years as a water plant operator. Martin enjoyed photography, fishing, all types of ball games, and was an avid Yellow Jackets fan.
Martin is survived by sons; Martin Conrad II of Colorado Springs, CO., Michael Conrad and wife Bryanna of Ocala, FL., daughters; Loretta Faye Conrad and partner Susan Whitlow of Ft Smith, AR., Lisa Conrad of Ft. Smith, AR., and Linda Kimsey of Grandview, MO., sisters; Lola Reinhart and husband Donald of Fredonia, KS., Nadine Timmons of Fredonia, KS., Harriet Snyder of Pittsburg, KS., Ida Buchanan and husband Richard of Fredonia, KS., and grandchildren; Jacob Conrad, Christopher Conrad, Sarah Kimsey, Hannah Kimsey, Brittany Manning, and Lane Manning.
Martin was preceded in death by his parents, his ex-wife Lois, a brother, Jr. Conrad, and sister, Betty Youngstrom.
Graveside services will be held at 11:00 AM, Friday, October 25, 2013 at the Fredonia City Cemetery, Fredonia, Kansas with Rev. Carl Ellis officiating. The family suggests contributions to American Cancer Society and may be left in care of the funeral home. Arrangements are under the direction of Countryside Funeral Home, P.O.
