Mary Lou Bonczkowski's Obituary
Mary Lou Bonczkowski, age 65, of Humboldt, KS passed away February 28, 2014, at the Lawrence Memorial Hospital in Lawrence, KS surrounded by family. Mary was born the daughter of Robert and Virginia (Tackkett) Warner on September 7, 1948 in Chanute, KS.
Mary graduated from Chanute High School with the class of 1966. After graduating she attended Cosmetology training at Independence Community College.
On April 26, 1968 she married Jim Bonczkowski in Chanute, KS, and they made their home in Humboldt, KS. Mary was a teacher’s aide for USD 258 for 25 years, and helped with elementary education. She was a self-taught artist, and spent 40 years attending arts and craft shows on weekends with her husband Jim. Mary was known for always having a smile and a good word to say.
Mary is survived by her husband Jim of the home, son; Joseph Ryan Bonczkowski and wife Amber of Humboldt, KS, daughter; Sheri Gillham and husband John of Auburn, KS, sisters; Sherry Bowyer of Pittsburg, Sandra Ganas of Alabama, grandchildren; Jaron and Kaleigh Bonczkowski, and Britton and Morgan Gillham and niece; Hannah Bowyer of Pittsburg, KS.
She was preceded in death by her parents; Robert and Virginia Warner, and a brother; Richard Leroy Warner.
A Celebration of Life Memorial Service will be held Thursday, March 6, 2014, 11:00 a.m. at the Otterbein United Methodist Church in Chanute. Interment will be held at the Quincy Cemetery at a later date. Family suggests memorials to Lawrence Memorial Hospital Oncology Department to be used for breast cancer research. Services have been entrusted to Countryside Funeral Home Johnson Chapel and may be left with or mailed to the funeral home.
