Mary Margaret Coats' Obituary
Mary Margaret Coats, 91, of Fredonia, passed away on Wednesday, June 21, 2023, at Fredonia Regional Hospital. Mary Margaret was born on January 7, 1932, in Fredonia, the daughter of Theodore and Pearl A. (Robertson) Houdyshell.
Mary Margaret was a graduate of Fredonia High School, class of 1950. After high school, she started working at the Bunch Greenhouse in Fredonia, then the hardware store, and retired from Wilson County after serving 33 years. Mary worked in the County Clerk’s office for many years and then the appraiser’s office.
On January 12, 1950, Mary Margaret married Keith Coats, throughout their lives they worked various jobs, including running the Sinclair station together for many years. Mary enjoyed working on various crafts, and wanted to expand her abilities so she took weekly craft classes. Along with crafts, she enjoyed sewing, quilting, and making blankets. She also enjoyed collecting Teddy Bears, listening to the Bee Gee’s and Kenny G. Along with her family, she also had a great love for animals.

Seven Great Grandchildren and Two Great-Great Grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Keith, a grandson Justin Coats and Great-great grandson Andrew Coats.
Graveside services will be held on Tuesday, June 27, 2023, at 11:00 AM at the Fredonia City Cemetery. There will not be a visitation prior to the service. Memorials have been suggested to either “Feed the Children” or the “Fredonia Pound Pals’ and may be left with or mailed to the funeral home.
