Mary Ellen Ediger's Obituary
Mary Ellen Ediger, 82, passed away peacefully at Heritage Healthcare and Rehab in Chanute, Kansas on Wednesday, June 4, 2025.
Mary was born April 10, 1943 to Eugene and Pauline Bailey in Earlton, Kansas. She dedicated most of her life to making a home for her husband and son.
Mary was a wife and homemaker. She ran a daycare out of her home for many years and viewed many of the children she took care of as her own family.
She remarried on July 1, 1995 to Leroy Ediger and they made their home in Baxter Springs, Kansas for most of their marriage.
She enjoyed travel, a night out at the casino, and watching NASCAR races as Dale Earnhardt’s #1 fan. She also loved making greeting cards and cooking surprise deserts for her family (remember the pumpkin cheesecake?!).
She was happiest spending time with her family and having her grandchildren come over for a visit.
Mary was preceded in death by her husband, Leroy, her parents, and one brother, James Bailey.
She is survived by her son, Paul (wife Kelley), her grandson, Joshua (wife Erin) and granddaughter, Delaney. She is also survived by two sisters, Pat Roberts and Regina Seltman, and two brothers, Larry and Jeff Bailey.
Funeral Services will be held at Countryside Funeral Home on Thursday, June 12, 2025 at 11:00am. Arrangements have been entrusted to Countryside Funeral Home.
