Mary Lodean Lauffer's Obituary
Mary Lodean Lauffer, age 89, a resident of Winfield, Kansas and formerly of Moline, Kansas passed away Wednesday, July 25, 2012 at the Winfield Rest Haven Nursing Home. She was born on October 11, 1922 in Cloverdale, Kansas the daughter of Oscar and Sarah Elizabeth (Dorsey) Miller.
On June 18, 1942 Lodean was united in marriage to Francis Eugene “Gene” Lauffer in El Dorado, Kansas. Besides being a homemaker, Lodean worked at Brogans Café, Horns Grocery Store, Curly Q, Sale Barn Café and also sold Avon. She was a member of the Moline United Methodist Church, Women’s Auxiliary in Grenola, EHU and the Friendly Neighbors Club in Elk County. Lodean enjoyed bowling, gardening and tending to her flowers especially her irises.
Lodean is survived by two sons; Fred Lauffer and his wife Arleen of Winfield, Kansas and Marvin Lauffer of West Virginia, three daughters; Sheryl Dunbar and her husband David of Girard, Kansas, Pam Feaster and her husband Jim of Winfield, Kansas and Deanna Burns of Winfield, Kansas, two sisters; Rosie Gray of Howard, Kansas and Ellen Curtis of Leesburg, Florida, two brothers; Dwayne Miller of Sterling, Kansas and Charlie Miller of Winfield, Kansas, seventeen grandchildren and numerous great and great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Gene Lauffer, one brother Johnnie Miller, one sister Lola King and one granddaughter Sylvia.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, July 30, 2012 at the Countryside-Zimmerman Funeral Home in Howard, Kansas. Visitation will be one hour prior to service at the funeral home. Interment will be at Greenlawn Cemetery in Grenola, Kansas. Family suggests contributions be made to the Winfield Rest Haven Nursing Home and may be left with the funeral home.
