Mary Lou Cochran's Obituary
Mary Lou Cochran, age 89, formerly of Moline, KS, passed away September 7, 2023 at Covenant Care Senior Living in Wichita, KS.
Mary Lou was born June 23, 1934 in Grenola, KS to Charles and Madge (Hurt) De Moss. She grew up in Grenola alongside her brother Charles, graduating from Grenola High School.
On December 13, 1952, Mary Lou married Julian Cochran in Moline, KS, where they called home for the rest of their lives. They raised one son, Gary, and were married 65 years until his passing in 2018.
Mary Lou worked at Elk Manor Nursing Home in Moline, starting on the floor as a nurse’s aide, and retired 35 years later as Medical Records Administrator. When she wasn’t working there, she was working alongside her husband Julian, helping him raise cattle, growing a garden, and driving the grain truck during wheat harvest. In her spare time, especially after retiring, Mary Lou enjoyed being a member of the Moline United Methodist Church, and the Music and Literary Club in Moline.
Mary Lou is survived by her son, Gary of Wichita, KS
Nieces: Marcella Edwards, and Carolyn Musgrove
Nephews: Steve Welch, Bradley De Moss, and Craig De Moss
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Julian, brother Charles, and an infant sister Bertha Marie.
A Memorial service to honor Mary Lou will be held at 10:00 AM on Saturday, September 23, 2023 at Countryside Funeral Home in Howard, KS
