Mary Louise Van Royen's Obituary
Mary Louise Van Royen, age 83 of Sedan, passed away Sunday, December 17, 2023 at her home.
Mary was born May 24, 1940 in Roxanne, Oklahoma to John and Lucy (Taylor) McCormac. She was raised alongside 6 brothers and sisters.
In 1957, she met a young man named James, and after 3 years of dating he simply stated, I think we’ll get married. She agreed, and on November 27, 1960, Mary married James Van Royen in Sedan, KS. They were married 44 years, until his passing in 2005.
Mary and James lived on their farm, and while James farmed and worked other jobs, Mary took care of the house, the garden, and their children. She enjoyed being a homemaker and everything that came with it. Whether it was making large meals for the family, or tending to the 1 acre garden she grew, she was doing what she loved. Her family loved to get together for Sunday dinners, and Mary always made sure there was more than enough to feed everyone, along with many leftovers.
Mary loved being a wife, mom and grandma, and she was like a second mom to every one of her grandchildren. She will be greatly missed by all her family and many friends.
She is survived by her sons: James Van Royen of Wichita, KS, Rickey Van Royen of Sedan, KS, Ronnie Van Royen of Longton, KS, Danny Van Royen of Sedan, KS, Gary Van Royen of Independence, KS, and James Van Royen of Sedan, KS
Her grandchildren: Scotty, Sherri, Sylvia, Jimmy, Wyatt, Dalton, and Zachary
