Mary "Belle" Verbeck's Obituary
Mary Belle Verbeck, age 87, formerly of Moline, KS, passed away on March 10,2015 in La Mesa, CA. Belle was born the daughter of Myron Monroe and Marie (Munsey) Connor on March 24, 1927 in Grenola, KS.
Belle attended schools in the Grenola area and graduated from Grenola High School in 1945. She was united in marriage to Marvin Hopper on August 30, 1947. The couple resided in Moline and was blessed with two sons. Marvin preceded her in death. She later married Harold Verbeck on June 14, 1971 and he too, preceded her in death. She owned and operated Belle’s Beauty Shop in Moline and was a member of the Moline United Methodist Church. Belle was a loving wife and mother, and her niece stated that, “Aunt Belle was the kindest, nicest, and most gracious person I’ve ever known and it was an honor to be a part of her family’”
Belle is survived by a son, Calvin Hopper of Riverside, CA, brother-in-law; Henry “Bud” Beechner, Moline, KS; niece Kathleen List of Waterbury, CT; nephews: Rick Beechner of Moline, KS, and Mitchell Connor of Brookfield, CT.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Myron and Marie; husbands Marvin and Harold; son, Mark Hopper; sister, Norma Beechner; brothers, Richard “Dick” Connor, John “Buzz” Connor; and sister-in-law, Anne Marie Connor.
Graveside Memorial Services will be held Friday, July 3, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. at the Moline Cemetery. Family suggest memorials to the Moline Methodist Church and may be mailed to the funeral home at 206 E. Washington, Howard, KS 67349.
